Three Amazing Rides for Fall

The Best Rides for Fall in the Pacific Northwest
Three scenic locations that will make for amazing motorcycle rides

There is something amazing and special about this time of year. The air gets a little crisper, football airs all weekend, and everything suddenly becomes pumpkin flavored. But one of the most magical things about the fall is the way the leaves turn, creating a landscape of reds, yellows, and oranges that can stop you in your tracks. There’s nothing like a motorcycle ride in the beautiful fall weather, so we’ve compiled three amazing rides to take this season.

#1. Bainbridge Island, WA
Ride to Seattle and take a 35-minute ferry ride with your bike to this beautiful island in Puget Sound. There are a number of motorcycle meetups on the island, and for those who don’t mind parking the bike temporarily (safety first!), the island is well known as a buzzing wine destination. With stunning views of Manzanita Bay and breathtaking foliage, this is a day trip you won’t soon forget.

#2. Sun Valley, ID
This ride is one best suited for a long weekend. An 11-hour ride from Tacoma, it’s an awesome one with a gorgeous destination. Sun Valley in fall is simply gorgeous. It’s always sunny. The days are warm and the nights are cool. It’s also a very affordable time to stay in the area, as it’s after the summer tourism season and before the ski season. The hillsides glow golden as the leaves turn, and if you’re looking for a beautiful ride with an indescribable autumn view, look no further than Adams Gulch—a trail meant for hikers, mountain bikers, and motorcyclists. Just turn east onto Adams Gulch Road from State 75 (12 miles north of Ketchum) and follow it all the way to the end. Save plenty of time to take it all in.

#3. Historic Columbia River Highway, OR
Just two hours outside of Tacoma, the Historic Columbia River Highway has earned its status as an international scenic destination. It was the first-ever scenic highway in the United States and is a National Historic Landmark. With spectacular waterfalls, feats of architecture, and breathtaking overlooks of the Columbia River Gorge, this highway is considered one of the greatest engineering feats of the modern age. Samuel Lancaster, the engineer behind the project, worked to ensure the waterfalls and other incredible gems of nature were showcased. As he put it, he did “not want to mar what God had put there.” This highway is rightfully known as the “King of Roads,” and fall is the perfect season to take in all its beauty on an amazing motorcycle ride.

We hope you take the time this season to truly enjoy the freedom that comes with owning and riding a motorcycle. Being a rider is about loving life and appreciating nature’s gifts. As the leaves turn and the air chills, we hope the rider’s spirit takes you on the adventure of a lifetime.
