Grief
comes in many different shapes and forms and different people deal with
the emotional fallout in various ways. For Ron Ross, dealing with his
mother's loss to liver cancer was initially met by great sadness and
disassociation -- almost a pilgrimage of separateness where he couldn't
really talk about her passing or cope with it even on the most personal
level.
But Ron Ross has now emerged from that emotional cocoon as
a leader that is putting his efforts and focus on doing good -- on
raising money to beat the disease, and helping others deal with the
devastating loss of loved ones. You can join him and support these good

Ride this Saturday, July 14.
The American Cancer Society (ACA)
explains that Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common form of
liver cancer: bile duct cancer, cancers in blood vessels in the liver,
and hepatoblastomas (a rare liver cancer usually found in children
younger than 4) are other forms of liver cancer. The ACA says that about
28,720 new cases of primary liver and bile duct cancer are diagnosed
each year, and that about 20,550 die from the disease annually. See

"Watching
her battle this awful disease was difficult," Ron explained. "She
battled for eight months until she had no more strength."
"The
loss of my Mom devastated me and it took me awhile to get through the
loss of her. It wasn’t until last year’s ride that I realized that
helping other families and people fight this disease would help me
heal."
Ron used the CBLP venue to benefit the USO and fallen
soldiers last year. But now, more conscious of the impact events like
this can have on consciousness-raising and personal healing, he decided
to give proceeds to the American Cancer Association's Relay for Life.
Ron shared: "I felt that I needed to help other people and their
families so they didn’t have to go through the pain of watching their
loved ones go through what my mom went through."
Fund-raising through Fun-riding Ron's
commitment to growing the venue has resulted in a day of activities and
engagements that will definitely mean a lot of fun for motorcycle
lovers, and absolute delight for the winners of the poker run and a bike
contest. The person with the high hand in the poker run will go home
with a big screen TV; the low hand will take home a laptop.
There
is also a raffle with great prizes from Eagle Leather, Toscono's,
Edward Jones, Big John’s Oil & Lube, Windermere's Cathy Morris, The
Try band (made up of Members from the Boinkers), and other sponsors.
"Last
year we raised over $4,500 in proceeds for the USO and Fallen
Soldiers," Ron said, "and this year we hope to more than double
donations and proceeds."
