Care for your Heated Clothing.

Heated clothing uses electricity, so it’s important for your own safety to follow the care instructions. These are gleaned from Gerbing’s website.

Never dry clean your heated gear. And don’t throw it in the washer, either. Hand wash only.

Before you wash your gear, tuck the plugs into their zippered pockets and zip the pockets shut. Take out anything else that’s in the pockets.

You’ll wash your gear in a large wash basin or sink filled with lukewarm or cold water. Use a mild detergent (like Woolite) and follow the directions on the bottle—a few drops will do.

Swirl the garment through the water to soap it up.

Drain the sink and use clean tap water to rinse the garment until you can’t see any soap suds.

With the water off, drain the sink again. Gently, gently squeeze out the water without wringing or twisting the garment.

Take the item out of the sink and put it between towels to soak up as much moisture as possible. The more water you get out this way, the quicker it will dry.

Don’t iron the garment; don’t put it in the dryer; don’t use a hair dryer or heat gun.

Hang the garment up to air dry; put a towel below it to catch drips.

Once the garment is dry, gently tap the plugs to be sure they are dry.
