Summer Bells: 'Christmas In July' Sale

custom image

In the Southern Hemisphere, where winter comes while we in the Northern Hemisphere have summer and the coldest month is July, it makes sense to celebrate Christmas in July. For example, many Australian families have a traditional Christmas dinner with all the trimmings on July 25. (Of course, they also celebrate Christmas on December 25, maybe with a day at the beach.)

Another good reason to have Christmas in July is to accommodate the folks who work during the real Christmas season. That’s why Santas, Mrs. Clauses, and elves from all around the world gather for the World Santa Claus Congress at the Bakken Amusement Park in Klampenborg, Denmark. The “Jule in July” lasts for three days.

The 1940 movie Christmas in July is about a guy who gets tricked into thinking he won a lot of money and buys presents for family and friends—and proposes to his girlfriend. Later in the 1940s, some churches had Christmas in July events so they could get donation packed and shipped (by sea in those days) to missions far away.

But maybe the best reason to have Christmas in July is to have a good, old-fashioned sale. The notion goes back at least to 1950, so we should be able to call it a tradition.

And this year, Christmas in July is coming to Eagle Leather from July 19 through July 28. We’ll put up some seasonal décor, but the best thing about Christmas in July is shopping. You’ll find specials throughout the store—up to 50 percent off! And you don’t have to come to the store to find them, either. Our Christmas in July event is for both in-store and online shoppers. It’s a great opportunity to gear up for Sturgis, or wherever you like to ride.

It's going to be hot, and we’ve got more than a dozen different style of Cooldanna. Here’s one with a Maori-style design. You can wear a Cooldanna as a headband, a neck tie, or a hair band. You soak it in cold water for ten minutes. This activates the “magic” crystals inside to give you hours of cooling relief.

The folks at Sturgis are calling 2019 the “Year of the Ride.” Christmas in July at Eagle Leather is a great time to gear up. You’ll find great deals on helmets, jackets, and chaps. Maybe you need luggage to carry your supplies, either while you ride to the rally or to use once you get there. At the very least, it’s time to bling out. Get some biker-style jewelry for yourself, and some lights or decals for your ride. Look for more information about Sturgis and the gear you can use getting there—or whenever you take a long ride—in the next newsletter.

Come pretend with us at the Eagle Leather Christmas in July.
